apibrėžtis Inžinierius, kuris tiria ir kuria darbo efektyvumo įvertinimo metodus ir teikia savo patarimus šiais klausimais. Jis parengia ir prižiūri darbo operacijų trukmės tyrimus, teikia rekomendacijas dėl darbo našumo didinimo ir prižiūri jų įdiegimą. Analizuoja darbo organizavimą ir sukuria metodus, kuriais galima įvertinti įvairiose darbo vietose dirbančių asmenų atliekamą darbą individualaus našumo požiūriu. Analizuoja tyrimų rezultatus, siekdamas aptikti ir panaikinti visas neveiksmingas darbuotojų pastangas ir nustatyti pagrindines darbo operacijų trukmės normas, kurias taikant galima būtų įvertinti kiekvienos darbo vietos krūvį ir kiekvieno darbuotojo darbo tempą. Jomis remdamasis sudaro darbo užmokesčio sistemas. Daro arba rekomenduoja darbo operacijų, darbo krūvio ir užduočių, tempo ir užmokesčio sistemų pakeitimus, kuriais siekiama padidinti darbuotojų darbo našumą ir įrenginių naudojimo rentabilumą.
